The Firstforged Automa was the second Cybertronian to be brought into existence. Most Primordialist myths hold that he demerged in Tagon. Automa was the "strong brother" or "mighty lieutenant" of Prima, supporting him in all things but always counselling for restraint and clemency.

Accoring to legend, Automa survived the Black Age and was counsellor to Prime Nova during the Silver Age, but was killed during the Builder Invasion. Automa is considered the primogenitor of the Autobots as a build-line. His spawnlings were known as the Automatons and his line of descent as the Autobots.

Automa is considered the physical primogenitor of the Autobots of Iacon and Tagon.

The name "Automa", meaning "self-acting", is a translation of his name in Modern Autobot. The pictographs representing Automa in the Primal Tome indicate that his name in Ancient Cybertronian meant "he does" or "he acts". In Primaltongue he was called Omuhurox meaning "I am, I exist, I do". In Modern Autobot he is called Omvialanus meaning "our friend, the great self-acting person". Omvialanus is transliterated into Murion as Mwilanaws. In High Legion he was called Lashu-sou-sheuefa-suse, roughly meaning "sublime wave movement thought", a complicated High Legion concept that equates the constant motion of the waves with the how thought motivates action. In Modern Decepticon he is called Aunoluraxus, meaning "the motivated one who was lord of a small place". The latter part is a jibe at the decreasing amount of Iacon controlled by the Autobots. Aunoluraxus would be translated into English as "Onhelot".
