Convoy was the fourth of the Firstforged and considered the most loyal follower and disciple of Prima, the most trusted of Prima's favourites, and the most resolute and stubborn of the Firstforged. His spawnlings were known as the Vehicons and his line of descent as the Convoys.

Convoy was destroyed by the demons after the death of Valiaro.

Opinions are divided as to where his trait programs run most true; Iaconics believe themselves to have his programming most strongly, but many non-Iaconics believe Convoy's programming is found in almost all Autobots, especially Urayans.

The name "Convoy", meaning "carrier", is a translation of the meaning of his name in Ancient Cybertronian. In Primaltongue he was called Yuxun-Kuxarun meaning "I am the moving engine, I exist". In Modern Autobot he is called Xaundiconus meaning "the strong carrier who is a great and ideal person". Xaundiconus is transliterated into Murion as Xawndi Cenus. In High Legion he was called Yuhasusumdu, meaning "firm sand underfoot in shallow water". This is a dual metaphor describing both Convoy's reliability and kindness as being like the kindest and firmest of sea conditions, but also inferring that he was not a great thinker. In Modern Decepticon he is called Vunagularaxus, meaning "the strongest carrier, he was lord of a small place". This latter refers to the decreasing size of Iacon.
